Associated Press Features Pizza House

Associated Press editor Beth Harpaz was in Springfield during a recent vacation and enjoyed Pizza House so much, she decided to write about it.

Since the story was published on the AP website, it has appeared in about 30 media outlets around the country and in Canada.

The AP, a not-for-profit news cooperative owned by its American newspaper and broadcast members, supplies news to its members, international subscribers and commercial customers. There are currently about 1,400 U.S. daily newspaper members and thousands of television and radio broadcast members.

The CVB public relations staff assisted Harpaz with information and photographs of the popular Commercial Street eatery.

The CVB works with a variety of media in an effort to generate positive stories about Springfield as a travel destination. In October, a freelance writer on assignment for “Wichita Magazine” was in the city for a story about things to do during the winter holiday season. That story is expected to be published in December. A writer for a book titled “Moon Route 66 Road Trip” to be published by Avalon Travel also was in the city in October.

Coming up, the Professional Outdoor Media Association is having its 10th annual convention in Springfield in March and the Western Chapter of the Society of American Travel Writers convenes in May in Branson. The Springfield CVB and Branson Chamber/CVB, are working with both groups to provide story opportunities and press trips.
