CVB Hiring for Two Positions in Marketing Department

The Convention & Visitors Bureau is seeking applicants for an advertising sales assistant and a digital media assistant.

Advertising Sales Assistant

The advertising sales assistant will assist the partner development manager in generating private revenue through advertising sales and partner retention efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote sale of advertising in CVB publications, internet advertising, transparency displays, kiosks and brochure insertions
  • Data entry of advertising sales contracts and billing information
  • Phone, email and in-person follow up with advertising clients
  • Updating client history database
  • Trafficking of advertising sales materials (ie. display ads, advertising copy, etc.) to ensure advertisers are properly represented
  • Conducting advertiser benefit seminars for Springfield and area marketing partners
  • Assisting with management of the Discover SGF program, including recruitment and program development
  • Organizing and assisting in production of sales promotional materials
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail needed for proofreading website content, reports and correspondence.
  • Excellent organizational skills are required to maintain meticulous files.
  • Ability to set goals and prioritize tasks to maintain workload.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle stressful situations in a calm, professional manner.
  • Ability to recall information such as dates, names, files and projects.
  • Ability to work well within a membership organization and participate in committee decision making.

Desirable Education, Training and Experience:

  • Outside sales experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Springfield area.
  • Experience in a tourism-related organization a plus.
  • Or any combination of education, training and experience that would qualify the individual for the position.

Digital Media Assistant

The digital media assistant will design digital and printed advertisements and marketing materials, acquire new photo and video assets, maintain the graphics library and provide graphic support to the marketing department to help build awareness of Springfield as a travel destination.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs internal publications, promotional materials, maps and miscellaneous graphics.
  • Designs online and print advertisements for the CVB and submits them to the appropriate media outlets.
  • Assists with development of TV and radio spots.
  • Provides support for development of presentation materials, including print, video and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Responsible for following the CVB style guide to maintain brand standards in all digital, print and broadcast media.
  • Works with the Marketing director to ensure that all CVB advertisements follow cooperative marketing agreements and guidelines.
  • Collects artwork, listings and logos from advertisers for use in the CVB website, publications and promotional materials.
  • Ensures that advertisers are properly represented in all print, web and display advertisements.
  • Photographs/videos events and tourism-related venues as requested.
  • Maintains the library of photos, logos, floor plans, maps, vector images, videos, etc. and provides to requesting media, advertisers and staff.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Desirable Education, Training and Experience:

  • Degree in marketing, graphic design, advertising or a closely related field or two or more years of commensurate work experience.
  • A working knowledge of and experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom and Premiere Pro.
  • Experience with video and still photography using DSLRs and video cameras.
  • Or any combination of education, training and experience that would qualify the individual for the position.

About the Convention & Visitors Bureau

The Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau was formed in 1979 as the hospitality arm of the Chamber of Commerce. The Bureau was incorporated independently as a not-for-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Missouri in 1989. The CVB is a marketing and service organization which contracts annually with the City of Springfield to promote economic development through travel and tourism.
