Sales Department Targets Meeting Planners with Marketing Campaigns

The Convention & Visitors Bureau sales department conducts a variety of campaigns to entice meeting and event planners to choose Springfield for their events.

Current and upcoming projects include:

Delivering the “Springfield Starter Kit” to meeting planners, part of a cooperative marketing effort with the DoubleTree, Oasis and University Plaza hotels. The kit is designed to showcase local products and encourage planners to consider Springfield when selecting a host city for conventions.

The team also is hosting a familiarization tour for convention planners Nov. 26-27 and recently hosted 20 international golf tour operators in conjunction with Branson to encourage them to bring golf tours to the Ozarks.

A sales blitz targeting meeting planners will be conducted in Jefferson City Oct. 11-12 with hotel partners.

Sales staff also travel to trade shows where they have opportunities to showcase the city’s assets and network with convention, meeting and sporting event planners. Recent and upcoming trade shows include:

  • TEAMS
  • Connect Faith
  • Missouri Connect
  • National Tour Association
  • Travel South International
  • MSAE Funfest
  • National Association of Motorcoach Operators
  • Connect Marketplace
  • Connect Sports
